This is what we are fighting. Please share widely.

Merton, Sutton & Surrey Downs Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) have begun an “Engagement” on a set of proposals they have called “Improving Healthcare Together”.

Just like the proposals which were published in 2017 by the Epsom & St Helier Trust, if enacted these proposals would remove Acute services from ONE OR BOTH of Epsom Hospital AND St Helier Hospitals, such as:

– Accident & Emergency
– Maternity
– Paediatrics
– Intensive Care
– Cancer Care
– Coronary Care
– Emergency Surgery

The title of the proposals suggest that they will “Improve Healthcare” by providing less of it, at fewer sites, with fewer Acute hospital beds, located further away from MOST patients, by fewer Consultants.

While this is ongoing, the Epsom & St Helier Trust have ALREADY SOLD 20% of the land and buildings at Epsom Hospital for less than half the amount of one of the offers made.

The Trust plan to make a similar sale of land and buildings at the St Helier Hospital site during 2019/20 for housing.

Your MP, your GP and your councillors have the power to stop this. Please write to them using the template letters available at https://koshh.org/templates.

It’s here! It’s live! The 2019 Health and Wellbeing Survey is now open for responses.

Quick edit on this to say : now that the survey is open any feedback submitted / errors spotted will only be useful for future years. Any errors or things that are missed will be the same for everyone so won’t affect data collection as it stands. Please therefore – at this stage – be kind with your feedback! The survey can’t be changed now that it is open and gathering responses.

Open to Australian residents over the age of 18 who are affected by ME/CFS, the survey will ask a series of questions related to your diagnosis as well as the impact ME/CFS has had on your education, employment and social interactions. This survey has been created to collect information from people diagnosed with ME/CFS to increase Emerge Australia’s advocacy efforts.

You can take part in the survey online, or you can request a paper version to be sent to you with a reply paid envelope, so that you can return the survey to Emerge Australia.

If you would like to do the survey online, you can do so here: https://emergeaustralia.au1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9YcvxK2wv5hScS1

If you would like to receive a paper version, you can request one via our information line: information@emerge.org.au or by calling (03) 9529 1344

If you would like to look at the survey in full before deciding whether to do it, you can do so here: https://emerge.org.au/2019-health-and-wellbeing-survey/

The survey closes on 31st May 2019 at 11.59pm AEST. Please ensure we have received your response online, or via the post, by this date.

We try to do as much as we can with very little energy, taking time out to rest, breathe and be present is a key factor in healing, yet we feel guilty or lazy for “doing nothing”. It’s healing, surrender and just be. I’m running low after a massively busy two weeks, time to rest and re charge over the weekend. Rest before your body forces you to. (Ie. Conks out because the tank is empty).

Dr Nath Talks on the ME/CFS NIH Intramural Study

Clutching our little maps we gloomily stared at the rain the grey labyrinth that was the NIH. We were utterly lost and very late for our appointment with Dr. Nath, the leader of the NIH Intramural study on ME/CFS.

Thankfully, we eventually found our way and Dr. Nath generously extended his time. No epic news was produced but we learned a lot about a study that is digging so deeply into the biology of its subject that it’s uncovered quite a few rare diseases in the “ME/CFS” patients participating in the study.
